EU project

Project Name: Development of Innovative Dietary Supplements Using Raw Materials of Natural Origin

Project Code: IP.1.1.03.0018

Beneficiary: PharmaS d.o.o. as the project leader, in collaboration with the Faculty of Food Technology Osijek, Vina Markota Winery, Polyclinic Osijek, and Polyclinic LabPlus 2

Brief Project Description: The project aims to explore the potential utilization of solid production residues from the winemaking process – grape pomace – for the development of new dietary supplement formulations. These supplements will be used to alleviate allergy symptoms and aid in recovery from sleep deprivation. If research reveals additional potential applications, the product may be used for other purposes.

Objectives and Expected Outcomes: The project aims to develop an optimal process for preserving grape pomace for year-round use and an optimal extraction process for phenolic compounds to maximize extract yield. The obtained extract will be used to develop innovative dietary supplements, which will undergo clinical efficacy studies with participants suffering from allergic rhinitis and sleep deprivation. Additionally, utilizing grape pomace for dietary supplement production will enable effective waste repurposing, reducing environmental impact and promoting a circular economy.

The project will also support local entrepreneurs by expanding their business opportunities and entering a new market niche. PharmaS aims to drive company growth through production innovations, increased revenue, job creation, and the long-term sustainability of the project’s results.
